Antic Disposition was founded in 2005 by director Ben Horslen and designer John Risebero, with the aim of producing innovative and entertaining theatrical work from a variety of genres. Over the past five years the company has earned a strong reputation for high quality interpretations of classic plays and stories, including a critically-acclaimed production of Richard III, an original musical version of A Christmas Carol and a major staging of Adrian Mitchells adaptation of The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, all performed in the spectacular derelict setting of St Stephens, Hampstead, as well as sell-out runs of The Importance of Being Earnest and Romeo and Juliet at Jermyn Street Theatre in Londons West End. Antic Disposition is the resident theatre company of Festival Shakespeare du Quercy, an annual celebration of the works of William Shakespeare which takes place in stunning open-air locations across southwest France. Past productions for the Festival include The Shakespeare Revue, Romeo and Juliet, Twelfth Night, A Midsummer Nights Dream and Much Ado About Nothing, all of which were also performed in London. In 2009 the company was invited to present Romeo and Juliet as part of an international theatre festival at Teatr Elblag, Poland. 2010 marks Antic Dispositions fifth anniversary, and plans to celebrate the occasion will be announced later in the year. |
